First few days......

So, the adventure began.  Got my first ride out of town from a friend that was at the hostel, and from their on out not that bad. The longest that i stood around for was about 30 min., so cant complain with that. I made it about 180 miles the first day and today was only able to get about 90 miles closer to florida. Only 5700 miles remaining thats all; with 50 days to make it their.

Dont have that much time to use the computer so, that is all i write.

Another day, more interesting rides to come.....

Leaving on the road adventure

Stayed one last night at Billies hostil which i stayed at for the first two weeks in alaksa.

Its now time, packed my bag; getting rid of as much excess weight that i can. The back pack weighs to much but the things i need along the way. After a few days, should will get used to it.

Alright, lets see how the first few rides go on my way to montana.

Laws on hitchhiking

1...The (State highway commission) by resolution or order entered in its minutes, and local authorities by ordinance, may regulate or prohibit the use of any controlled-access roadway (or highway) within their respective jurisdictions by any class or kind of traffic which is found to be incompatible with the normal and safe movement of traffic.

The above relates to Interstate Highways and Turnpikes, and is put in place to make sure that vehicles can maintain a steady speed without having to watch out for pedestrians or bicycles.

2....No person shall stand in a roadway for the purpose of soliciting a ride.

Many people see this law in a state's statutes and assume it means hitchhiking is illegal (especially if the state has modified the wording to say 'no person shall hitchhike in a roadway'). This is not the case. A roadway is the driving lanes of a highway and in most cases does not include the shoulder of the road.

Hitch-Hyker Games

So things come to me
they just seem to flow
no one knows the things that just have to go
unexplainable
untouchable
games the things familiar to me
but thats just the way it has to be
no one sees the truth
now i know its cruel
and fights come to me duel after duel
they see what i want to show
afraid of them to know
unable, to tell you what i mean to say
unstable, cuz games is all i play
racking your brain
trying to make sense of what i say
knowing your the one going insane
and know its yo. GAME i play.

The trailer

Couch surfing from time to time is great, but along the journey places to sleep can be a bit hard to find. A small trailer behind the Marlin the wonderful local bar filled with the kind of people that you want to be around. It reminds me of liquid blues in Woodstock IL. the bar that treated me very well back at home. They both have great jam music, blues, jazz, and the occational random screaming punk band rolling through.  The trailer was a bit cluttered with stuff but a couch gave a place to rest my head for the evening. When i laid down and though about my journey ahead thoughts of great adventures filled the nights dreams.  When the morning came a sense of ease filled my essence giving me a satisfaction of where my life is, at this moment. In the travels ahead i will see what so many others have seen and done; one of the last true experiences of of living free with no boundaries.  There is a limit though. To many people take to much from people and rely on them.  I see it as a give and take life. What you give is what you will get in return....... Karma..... Just another day...... 2 weeks then my road life will begin........

The beginning

Here i am..... Sitting and contemplating the very near future. Being on the road with just my backpack and my my finger to get from fairbanks alaska to titusville florida. I would say roughly about 5000 miles of road to travel. An amazing new experience that was a must on my list of things to do throughout my life. I will be making it to a wonderful sailboat named ptit louis heading to the Bahamas and their after to farther south.
