Takashi ( Biking across the Alaska-Canada-USA- South America)
(A journey lasting 3 years) I was hoping to make my way through Alaska and canada to Missoula Montana fairly quickly; but as a new-bee to thumbing, i had no idea how long it was going to take. You never know how long you can get stuck in one place waiting for a ride until you actually do it. You stand looking at each car pass, one by one; thinking so many thoughts over and over. Hoping to get a ride from the car heading toward you.
Some slow down, take a quick look at you and speed off, others just move over to the other lane, and few stop to pick you up. Its an experience which takes PATIENCE, knowing there will be that one person that you are destined to meet.
It took twenty rides to hitch from Fairbanks AK to Missoula MT, 2600 miles, and twelve days. An amazing intro to another month on the road.
Over the last few years i have attempted school, a few times; it just wasn't time for it yet. Traveled out to wyoming at the beginning of the year to work as a roustabout for the gas companies. It was a great experience and was able to see an area of life that i was not able to before. The travel unintentionally created a desire to see several types of labor scenes. So decided to move to alaska and work for the gold mines, but my connection flacked out on me. Despite his knowing he did me a favor. If it didn't work out this way and i would of gone to work and would not be hitching to florida and getting on a sail boat for the next 10 months or so. These entries to come are a little part of what i see and the way i live my life.
